I’m sharing today on this 4th of July, Independence Day, an excerpt from my book, Findings from the Hunting Party’s Scout. The book was published in 2008, but I wrote the passage in July of 2004.
On July 2, 1776, twelve of the thirteen states passed a resolution of independence
“We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, they are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights, that among them are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
...The words are an extraordinary expression of an ideal regardless of when it was written. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is a radical sentiment for an official government document. …Stating that life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness belongs to the individual, not God and country, is progressive, even by today’s standards. Pg 188
Twenty years after writing that chapter the nation is deciding whether to vote for a political party that has created a document called Project 2025, which would basically make that incredible declaration of freedom subservient to the President. Loyalty not to the individual rights that the Declaration of Independence states, but to a man or woman who would have the power to dictate what rights any person in the United States of America should have.
Project 2025 is nothing new, it is Fascism 101, reordered to look like a more respectable political platform. Don’t be fooled. To go down that road everyone, everyone, even the loyal ones would be susceptible to the whims of an autocratic President who would be backed by the American version of Russian oligarchs masquerading as so-called “Christian” conservatives.
I say so-called Christians because nothing that Jesus taught – love thy neighbor, turn the other cheek, is anything close to what a second Trump administration has planned. Jesus loves Trump just as he loves everyone else, but he certainly wouldn’t vote for him.
You don’t have to believe my interpretation. Luckily people still have the ability to read this document for themselves. You can access it on the internet. Read various interpretations from multiple sources. I write about Project 2025 not to make people fearful; I write because I love my country and have hope that when all is said and done and The People have voted, US citizens will have realized that what we have here in this country should not be tossed away due to lack of understanding or because of tribal political loyalty.
I want my children and my children’s children to be able to pursue life, liberty and happiness regardless of who is president, regardless of political affiliation, regardless of gender, religion, skin color, country of origin, sexual orientation or economic status. The writers of Project 2025 don’t care anything about that. Don’t be fooled.
Happy Independence Day to all of US,
Karyn
Totally on point, Sis. People really need to understand what un-American horrors MAGA is planning if Trump regains the White House.
Everyone got vote this Election our country is at stakes we need for our next generation of Bergendorff’s fight for their rights and freedoms! It will be too late if people don’t wake up now!
